A corsage for Charlotte

My lovely blogging friend Karin, whose posts on One Perfect Little Miracle keep inspiring me to try my hand at different crafts, sent me some very pretty pink yarn. Having translated all the information into English equivalents, I found just the right pattern to make a little cardigan for baby Charlotte.

It was a challenge because the trim is crocheted and I have never tried that. I sat with one eye on the Rowan knitting pattern book and the other on a crochet instruction book. After a great deal of unpicking and starting again, I achieved an acceptable, though not perfect, result. Charlotte won't mind and I hope she likes the corsage, which was great fun to make. I have made it to fit when she is 6 to 12 months old, so she will probably enjoy pulling the corsage to pieces!

Your gift was such a lovely surprise that I wanted to make something special with it. As you say, I will have the photograph to remind me when little fingers have destroyed the handiwork.

I know you made super quilts for your grandchildren. Maybe its our way of keeping them in mind.

  4. I always admire people who can make these lovely things. I've only been able to knit in a straight line...scarves and washclothes! lol! The little sweater is beautiful and I'm sure it will be treasured.

  6. Oh, it looks beautiful Monix. I too am a knitter who needs to get her head around crochet. I can just about do double crochet and love how it grows quickly in comparison to knitting.

  7. Thank you for the compliments on the jacket. My knitting has always been of the plain and simple variety so this was a personal challenge. I still cannot understand the instructions for the crochet trim but my adapted version seems to work. Perhaps one day I'll meet an expert who will explain it to me!
