Another baby, another quilt

I have just put the last stitch into this quilt for the expected addition to the family. In good quilting tradition, I have made a number of mistakes. I love that tradition as it means I can pretend they were deliberate mistakes.

  1. Adorable and no "mistakes" are visible. Is it your own design?

  2. My first attempt at pin-wheels and there are lots of mistakes. It isn't my own design but my adaptation of a pattern from "The Quilted Nursery" by Leslie Beck. I picked up the book at the American Museum in Bath and my son and his wife chose the design. I have discovered that your American cribs are bigger than our baby cots so I had to adjust accordingly.

  3. Congrats - a quilting goddess. Good wishes for new babe too. By the way, IE said it couldn't open your site then did.

  4. Thank you, Susie. We are all getting very excited as the day draws near.

I have heard from someone else having problems with opening Random Distractions but I'm afraid I don't know what the cause is. Thanks for persisting.

  5. Love the colourway you've chosen for the quilt. Looks perfect. You are very patient. I've made very basic quilts but don't seem to have staying power...
I've not had trouble with your site, but have with another typepad blog. My pc has been going haywire, opening dozens of blank IE pages, so I wonder if it's a problem with them?

  6. Perhaps it is IE and not Blogger. I use Firefox which tends to be less troublesome.

Thank you for the kind words about the quilt. I think it will be back to basics for me as the pin wheels were so fiddly.

  7. As another day looms with the prospect of more sorting and packing - not to mention ailing doggy care - I am taking time out to catch up with favourite blogs. So impressed by the latest quilt, M; another potential heirloom.

Just packed up all my needlework and knitting books which are most definitely not going into storage. With fewer distractions and the perfect space and light for making things where I'm moving to, I've got plans . . .

  8. I look forward to seeing your creations, D, although each mention of your impending move fills me with gloom.

  9. Ah, yes, M. but just think of all those ready-made excuses you will now have to head off ie essential trips to the newly formed Chilterns Branch of the Devon Bloggers Society. (Just to make sure that we're doing things properly.)

And all those places, replete with literary associations, that await us . . . Of course, you could just move eastwards too. I'll send regular reports.
