Approved!

Way back in January I registered Random Distractions as a BritBlog. The website indicated that I would hear in about 48 hours if I had been approved. Days, weeks and then months passed and I heard nothing so I thought RD must have failed to come up to scratch. But today I can break out the champagne - I have been approved and can wear the BritBlog and Devon Blog badges with pride!

  1. Oooh! Congratulations! I'd already opened a bottle in anticipation and now I have a jolly good excuse to pour another glass (albeit supermarket red plonk and not champagne)!

  2. Thanks, e. I was miffed when it looked as if RD hadn't been approved and tried to work out what was wrong with it. It turned out that there was a backlog of thousands waiting for approval - nothing sinister at all!

  3. Er, excuse me, Mrs Random D, but we haven't had a baby pic for THREE DAYS now. Kindly remedy this situation at your earliest convenience. Thank you.

  5. Not just in Devon, e. BritBlogs is a register of bloggers who are British citizens.

  7. It is indeed 3.00 a.m. I'm having one of my insomniac nights. I've realised that it is better to get up and do something rather than toss and turn in bed. Reading blogs beats doing the ironing!

  8. PS to last comment, e. Little Missy is in London, probably just waking her parents about now.

  9. Welcome to the wonderful world of Britblogs - and another widget! Celebratory lunch in order I think.

Did you manage to get any sleep?

  10. I had the same thing - registered and then nothing, with me thinking oh no, my poor blog isn't up to scratch. And then the email arrived yesterday. Glad to see I wasn't alone!

  11. D, I'm getting hooked on all these widgets. I used to be quite happy tootling along until I saw these things appearing on other blogs and wanted them too. I'm not sure what it's all about - envy, pride, all the deadly sins?!

  12. Logophilia - did you heave a great sigh of relief and satisfaction, too? I kept looking at all the approved blogs and wondering 'Why not mine?' It was rather like seeing one's child rejected for a part in the school play!

  13. Congratulations on your membership of Brit Blogs.

One advantage of having so many outstanding could be that it always means there are more links inwardly pointing to Brit Blogs and raising it in the SE rankings than outgoing :-)

I remember when I was registering my free online novels with various directories, there was quite a delay before they were accepted. But, once accepted, the fact that the site was number one in the search for free online novels meant it sent me lots of readers.

  14. Congratulations Monix! It is a well deserved honor. The overall value of the Brit Blog brand spiked higher on the day they admitted RD.
