Last night, we went to The Gallery at the Queen's Theatre in Barnstaple to listen to the young Norwegian jazz musician Marius Neset. I have been a jazz enthusiast for most of my life and I have seen many great musicians but I found this saxaphone playing unique. The quartet of Marius Neset on saxaphone, Jasper Hoiby on bass, drummer Anton Eger and Nick Ramm on piano played pieces from their latest album, Golden Explosion.
If you get an opportunity to see a live performance, I wholeheartedly recommend it. The CD is good but cannot replicate the magical experience of being in the electric presence of this exciting, gifted young man. Here is a taster:
I'm not sure about Jazz but sometimes my ears and brain need to meet new things ..he's very skilled isn't he ..I think I'll listen again later ..for now I've realized I'm blogging when I should be making breakfast ...oops !!!!
ReplyDeleteVal, the music isn't to everyone's taste but the sheer skill of this 25 year-old is breathtaking.
