The snow is snowing

Yes, we have snow even here on the North Devon coast. I know it is inconvenient with buses cancelled and schools closed but it is very pretty. We usually have to go right out to the moors to see snow so we are all like excited children here today. Just look at the view from my window:

Snow makes whiteness where it falls.
The bushes look like popcorn-balls.
And places where I always play,
Look like somewhere else today.
Marie Louise Allen

My garden certainly looks like somewhere else today. I hope that those of you who are used to this white stuff will forgive my whimsy but it is just what I needed to dispel the post-Christmas gloom.

Excuse me while I make my way down to the pool or the beach - its going to be above 30c for the remainder of this week. Summer in Oz - you've got to love it:)) Minus the bush fores that is.
    Take care

  2. Snowed in completely here today, but it is lovely. Yours is a nice manageable amount. I'm taking lots of photos- it's so bright and clean. Snowday for the rest of the day (though have been in this morning), I'll be 'working from home'...

  3. Yes, snow here in Mid-Devon too, M. Was heavy but has now stopped. Dogs loving it . . .

  4. Hi Cathy - Happy New Year! I know we are shivering at present but I think I can cope better with wearing an extra sweater here than I would trying to keep cool in your hot temperatures. I'm afraid I find 23 degrees too hot so 30 would have me wilting!

  5. Rattling On - I've been watching your snow reports with envy, although I appreciate how disruptive it can be. I'm sure ours will be gone in a day or two so I'll enjoy it while I can.

  7. Do you want me to send a container with snow?
I can send some VERY cold weather at the same time.
    But it is beautiful.......

I would like the snow but perhaps not such cold weather as you experience. Fortunately, I don't have to go anywhere this week so I can enjoy the snow through the window!

I wish we had some of your Alaskan snow suits.

Finding Mr Tumnus in the garden would be fun. So far I've only met with a few hungry birds.

  10. I can't believe it--when I looked at your photo, I thought "Oh, where's Mr. Tumnus?" Then I saw your friend's comment above and had to laugh. Enjoy the snow. Also, I always find that baking a cake chases away gloom. :-)

Baking a cake would remind me that the children are not here to eat it but I have spent some happy hours in the kitchen today, making bread and casseroles.

  12. Your photos are very pretty. Despite sundry moans about not being able to get to the post office I do rather like a bit of snow. A real winter wonderland this year.

It looks as if there is more to come, even for us in the warm south west!
