Farewell to Duck

There are many tributes appearing around the blogosphere to Robert Duquette, known simply as Duck, who died on Saturday. In replying to a comment on my We have snow post this morning, I happened to link to a post where Duck had left some of his typically humorous comments - one of those odd coincidences that make one pause for a moment and wonder.

I bid a sad farewell to Duck of The Daily Duck, and an even sadder one to Robert who became a 'virtual friend'. My son has written a full tribute here.

  1. Such sad news, M. And ToE's tribute is so eloquent. One of the most positive aspects of blogging is the new dimension it has brought to the nature of friendship, as we and many others have discovered.

  3. Peter, all of you who were close to Duck are in my thoughts and prayers. (He might have laughed at that!)

  4. D, you touch there on the essence of what blogging has become. I've 'met' so many special and interesting people this way. And then there is just the chance of meeting face to face as we have.

  5. monix, I think Duck would have put more stock in your prayers than most of the faithful walking this vale of tears. That was Duck.

Welcome and thanks for visiting. I tried to leave a greeting on your blog but the restrictions didn't allow it. I see you live in the West country, too and have many similar interests so I'll be back to visit soon.

  10. Skipper, I've been thinking of you especially during these days, as the one who knew Duck best. I hope that for his sake and for all your readers, that you will feel able to keep The Daily Duck going.

  11. To Skipper, and to all the others who knew my brother, Robert Duquette, from his blog - Thank you. Thank you for your warm remembrances of this lovely, gentle man. I thank you, on his behalf, for your friendship.

I have been reading through the archives of The Daily Duck these past few days. I am comforted by the permanence of his thoughts published. It is a wonderful record, an intellectual legacy. Rob was a beautiful soul, a kind and generous man, a deep thinker. I am truly grateful that he is remembered so kindly by all of you.
