It is hard to remember how lovely my garden looked just a couple of weeks ago. The torrential rain and high winds of the last few days have wreaked havoc out there. All that is left of my lovely white lilac is strewn on the steps and among the battered flowers and shrubs.
Ah, but you still have the memory of the moonlight and the wine and the sweet heady scent of lilac blossom enfolding you and your dreams on a perfect spring evening.
ReplyDeleteTrue, Crinny. I'll have to remember that as I look sadly at the devastation.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you and I hope it's just cleaning up and no permanent damage was done.
ReplyDeleteThank you, e. You know how it feels, having lost all those seedlings to the squirrels. It all looks messy at the moment but I'm sure we can tidy it up and hope that the later flowering plants will fill the gaps.
ReplyDeleteYes, I feel the same way about my garden. Nothing much seems to be flowering at the moment but I found one or two things left after the storms.
ReplyDeleteI hope you aren't under water!
No, we weren't hit as badly as some places, especially parts of Somerset. Let's hope that June will be a calmer month.
ReplyDeleteWell M, I may be only 30 miles away but my roses are still struggling to come out. Yesterday's sun helped. Yours are in full bloom - must be the sea air. And I bet your lovely will look as good as ever in a week or so.
ReplyDeleteIt is surprising the difference a few miles can make, isn't it? Your plants are far more sensible than mine, waiting for the weather to settle before showing their faces.
