I went to get the wedding bonnet this morning and it wasn't there! I didn't care that it was only 5.45, I shook the MM awake, demanding to know what he had done with it. Not understanding why I might need a hat at that time of day, he declined to answer but my threat of a glass of water over his head (I've seen episodes of 24) produced the information that he had put it in the attic. I'm afraid that my likeness to Jack Bauer ends with torture, I couldn't find the courage to face the attic spiders, so the second-best wedding bonnet will have to do. (It did attend a wedding in a castle, though.)

..... tattytiara. Congratulations! The Enchanted April will soon be winging its way to Alberta,Canada. (P.S Tattytiara, I don't have an email address for you! Please send me your details so that I can post the book.)
Next month's book draw will be for E. M. Delafield's The Diary of a Provincial Lady, one of the most popular of the Virago Modern Classics among fellow-bloggers. More on that later.
Ah, Diary of a Provincial Lady - if I didn't already have three copies, I'd be eagerly waiting to join in! I also have The Enchanted April, but have yet to read it, despite being on my shelves for over three years...

Simon, how nice to see you here, welcome! I've been visiting your blog for a long time. Do keep watching for my VMC draws - I think there are 5 or 6 more to come after the Provincial Lady.

ReplyDeleteI should think so too! I have a 'good' hardback edition of the Provincial Lady (second, not first, unfortunately) for Best, but it's the tatty old Green that puts in all the hard work.
