Farewell to Cranford

Oh ladies, what are we to do on Sunday evenings with no more episodes of Cranford to watch?

Tonight I got through a whole box of tissues. The kindness of Miss Matty's friends brought the first tears, then noble Mr Carter's tragic end, followed by young Harry's heartache and Lady Ludlow's remorse. There were happy endings for some but the sad and tragic scenes made it the best drama on television for a long time.

I couldn't find a picture of the final scene, where the bridal bouquet is thrown but here is one of all the hopefuls waiting for my daughter's bouquet to land. Nothing changes but the fashions!

  1. Ha! Looks as though all the gentlewomen of blogland sat down at 10 pm and blogged a weepy farewell to Cranford. What good company we keep!

  3. I saw an interview with 'Mary Smith' the other day, she hinted that there was enough leftover material to make at least one more sequel. Fingers crossed!

  4. I have just blogged about this as well!! I have to go to Boots on the way home and buy a new box of tissues to replace those I used last night when I wept copiously. And yes we all sat down and watched it - isn't that a truly great thought?

  5. I just read your post, Elaine. I think we are all of one mind! We should have bought shares in Kleenex!
