61 meets 60

Today I met the delightful D of 60goingon16. We had lunch at the Fisherman's Cot, pictured in an earlier post. We have been developing a friendship via our blogs, finding lots of amazing coincidences in our lives and likings so we decided to risk disappointment and meet face to face. There wasn't any disappointment, we seemed to pick up where the blogs leave off and had been chatting away for an hour before we remembered to order lunch!

It was really good to meet you, D. I look forward to the next time. In the meantime, here's the recipe for that special onion tart (lots of cream and butter so not an everyday kind of tart!).

  1. Well ditto all round M! Thank you so much for the recipe - now that's what I call an onion tart - and, of course, for Jane Austen. Here's to the next blog-lunch . . .

  2. Ahhhh, that is so sweet. So glad it went well. I have been staying in Scotland with my online friend Rachel, whom I 'met' four years ago when I bought some of her paintings on ebay. We've corresponded almost daily ever since and - despite what we all hear about the 'dangers' of meeting in real life those one encounters on the internet - it has been perfect, and just like meeting an old friend. Which of course is exactly what it was. I'm so pleased you two also made that leap of faith and proved yourselves right! Juliet xx

  3. Yes, Juliet, it was a very special day. I'm glad to hear of another friendship established via the internet. Next stop world peace?

  4. Have found gingerbread recipe (couldn't find original book - mislaid in house-move - but have found transcribed version in my 'tried and tested' book, and am trying out tonight to double-check it's the right one. Will take pics and post recipe soon as my contrib to pinny-porn, though I take such an ambivalent stance re the recent flurry of blogging on the subject, given my own circs, that it'll be my only contribution to the 'debate' and rather a sideways one at that!

  5. Thanks, Juliet. The gingerbread we ate at the museum was quite unlike the parkin I'm used to and my husband really liked it. As for 'pinny-porn' I only protested because I hate to be told what to do!

I love to read your comments and promise that I will reply as soon as I can leave my garden, sewing room or kitchen!
