"What should they know of England?"

Footballer Thierry Henry's reported comment that he wants to get away from "everything English" has prompted the Daily Telegraph to suggest that the Frenchman might have missed out on seeing some of our national treasures. "Has he spent a day inspecting a cathedral, or surveying our landscape, or even making himself cosy in one of our magnificent pubs?" asks the editor.

Magnificent architecture, spectacular landscape and homely hostelries sound typically English, but is that all there is to England? Answers on a postcard or in the comments box.

  1. I read that the English thing he principally wanted to get away from was his wife.
