July book draw

The Modern Virago Classic for this month is The Edwardians by Vita Sackville West. There are a lot of book draws taking place at the moment, so you might like to click on some of these, say hello or count me in, and wait for your name to be drawn out of the various hats.

Juliet is offering a really beautiful book which I covet, so please don't go there and reduce my chances of winning. However, if you visit Juxtabook, you can not only enter two draws but find details of lots of other blogs taking part in the Buy a Friend a Book (BAFAB) week.

Good luck with all of those but don't forget to leave a comment here if you'd like a chance to win The Edwardians. It is a story set in fashionable Edwardian society. It was written by Vita Sackville-West as a fun way of making money: "Such a joke it will be, and everybody will be seriously annoyed", she wrote. It is quite a light, frothy tale of a young duke, a headstrong girl, a beautiful seductress and a lavish house party. Perfect reading for the garden or beach.

  2. Please don't include me in the draw because I already have a copy so it would be a waste, but I'm slightly cross that the edition you are offering has a MUCH nicer cover than mine! Good luck, everyone!

  3. Good luck, Cath.

J, having made the decision to keep the lovely old green covers, I'm finding I have far more of the later editions and the covers are lovely. BUT, the shelves are full and I must make some space for all the books that I've been forced into buying by the blogging community!

  4. I know, these bloggers, eh? They really twist your arm behind youro back and make you part with cash, don't they?! I used to think my book purchasing was right out of control (and I include charity shop bargains when saying that - it's not the money, it's the SPACE!), but it's way off the scale now I keep seeing must-reads on every blog I visit. I should stop but: My name is Juliet and I'm a book-blog junkie.

There. I'm out of denial now! Phew.

  5. Perhaps we should devise a 12-step programme? We've started by acknowledging our problem, I suppose. I am Maureen and I'm a book-blog junkie.
I wonder how many more people will join us?
